OmniArts has 38 programs available in Theater. These programs include clowns, mimes, musical theater companies, magicians, storytellers, magicians, puppeteers, ventriloquists, and actors.

The Art of Clowning

After the 2 clowns introduce themselves in a skit, they talk about the various types of clowns (Comic Whiteface, Auguste, Tramp/Hobo, etc.) and how they differ regarding makeup, costumes and personality traits. They also discuss and show props and walk arounds. They do some magic tricks (in which children participate) and some balloon sculptures that teachers may take back to the classroom. They speak about the importance of going to school (regular and clown school) and conclude with a question and answer time.

History of Puppets Around the World

Mr. Clark is a master puppeteer who performs exciting and fun things with puppets during this educational program. He demonstrates puppets from the United States, India, Africa, Japan, Indonesia, Europe, and other parts of the world including marionettes, hand and rod puppets. Many students are given the opportunity to become puppeteers instantly, learning puppet movements while operating and using simple large puppets. The students learn how puppetry is a part of many cultures. This is a very informative, interactive, colorful assembly filled with beautiful puppets.

Adventures of El Payaso

The format of Mr. Conklin's presentation includes a brief history of mime, and a demonstration and explanation of props and costuming. He involves the audience in demonstrating techniques (gestures, sound, etc.) and lets the students witness his transformation into a silent clown as he applies his make-up. He does a variety of skits using recorded stories, music, juggling, slapstick and more audience participation. This is followed by on-stage make-up removal, a brief question and answer period, and interaction with students.

Pippin Puppets with a Point

Mr. Papineau uses beautiful hand-made hand puppets in his audience participation interactive shows. He has performed his extensive repertoire of original stories dealing with different issues for a number of years. Some of the stories are: “Critter Capers” (conflict resolution), “Welcome to Camp Living Room” (environment), “Twas the Night After Christmas,” and “Bunny Funnies.” The puppets include the students in their adventures, dilemmas, and decisions. The children help the puppets reach the “Happy Ending,” be it an improvement, justice, or simply a more positive choice. At the end, the puppeteer briefly shows how the puppets work.

Michigan's Wonders

This program explores Michigan’s history, resources, cities and recreational highlights. The students learn about Michigan products (such as honey, cherries and apples) along with facts about the Great Lakes. Mr. Clark incorporates audience participation, magic and visual elements to entertain while teaching important facts about the rich Michigan heritage. An indoor visual snowstorm is experienced as the show’s climax.

Self Esteem Fun (and Diversity)

Mr. Paul is a comedy ventriloquist, whose programs are educational, motivational and fun. His “I Feel Good” show is a fun, character-building program that teaches students how to be respectful, considerate, fair and compassionate. They discover how to improve their self-confidence by cheering others on like they cheer themselves on. (He may need help carrying his equipment to the performance space.)

Oceans in Motion

This assembly focuses on ecology, science and oceanography. Using puppets and magic, Mr. Clark takes students into the world of the ocean and helps teach about ocean creatures, the ecology of the sea, and things we use that come from the ocean. Sharks, whales, rocks, starfish, sand, salt, water, and waves are just some of the subjects covered. Students meet “Hoppy Cousteau” and hear about his underwater adventures. Through audience participation and colorful visuals, the students expand their understanding and the connection of science and ecology to the ocean!

OK to Walk Away

Mr. Paul is a comedy ventriloquist. His conflict resolution program, “It’s OK to Walk Away,” offers a unique learning experience for both students and faculty. It gives new insight to what conflict is and how to avoid and resolve it. Students are challenged to change the way they deal with their anger and are given three safe and simple ways to defuse it. (He may need help carrying his equipment to the performance space.)

The Six Pillars of Character

This high-energy program mixes magic, music and funny audience interaction. It is designed to reinforce 6 valuable character traits that schools feel are important for each student to embody. These “Pillars of Character” are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. The students learn the value of the pillars and how to practice them.

No Bully Club

Mr. Paul is a comedy ventriloquist, whose programs are educational, motivational and fun. His “No Bully Club” program promotes peace and consideration for others in a unique game show style assembly. The student/teacher interaction, puppets, music, and factual information promote kindness and explain the negative consequences one can expect when threatening, hitting or hurting someone else.
